The 2026 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) concluded in grand style in Lagos, with Nigerian superstar Rema emerging as the night’s biggest winner.

The 24-year-old hitmaker behind Calm Down took home three major awards, strengthening his position as one of Africa’s most influential musical talents.

Rema bagged Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Artiste of the Year, and Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in African RnB/Soul for his globally successful single Calm Down.

By securing the prestigious Best Male Artiste in Western Africa and Artiste of the Year titles, the Mavin Records sensation outshined other top Nigerian acts including Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Asake.

During his acceptance speeches, Rema thanked his fans and the AFRIMA organizers, calling the achievement a meaningful milestone.

He expressed heartfelt appreciation, saying the continuous love from fans across Africa and the world “means everything” and fuels his creative drive.

While Rema dominated the evening, several other Nigerian musicians also left with notable wins.

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy claimed Album of the Year, strengthening his reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent and influential performers.

Yemi Alade secured the award for Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary for her track You Are, featured in Iyanu: The Animated Series.

Shallipopi, one of Nigeria’s rapidly rising stars, surprised many by winning both Best Song of the Year and Best Collaboration for his hit Laho.

Other standout winners included Tanzanian singer Jux, who earned Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa, and Congolese vocalist Cindy Le Coeur, who took home an award representing the Democratic Republic of Congo category.

According to Gossip News Now, the ceremony took place at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and featured high-energy performances from top African entertainers.

This marks the third time Lagos has hosted AFRIMA, following previous editions in Ghana and Senegal—further highlighting Nigeria’s significant role in shaping African music and entertainment culture.
