Former presidential hopeful and renowned media figure, Dele Momodu, is preparing to formally declare his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

According to reports from Gossip News Now , Momodu—long associated with ex–Vice President Atiku Abubakar—has been among key opposition voices advocating for a unified front capable of challenging President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming election cycle.

The official declaration is slated to take place in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

The event will be hosted at the newly inaugurated ADC State Secretariat, where party executives, supporters, and political influencers are expected to converge.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Momodu reaffirmed his commitment to aligning with the ADC, describing the move as a return to his political foundation.

He is also scheduled to meet with party elders and prominent leaders in the state, many of whom have already identified with the ADC.

There are additional plans for Momodu to travel to his hometown after the event to engage directly with grassroots supporters.

Explaining his decision, Momodu said joining the ADC aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the opposition’s capacity to confront the ruling party ahead of the 2027 polls.

He noted that without collective action, opposition parties may find it difficult to mount an effective challenge against an incumbent administration.

Momodu further urged Nigerians to prioritize the protection of democratic principles over narrow partisan loyalty.

He stressed that defending the nation’s democratic values requires cooperation from both citizens and politicians, no matter their party lines.

He also clarified that his move is not fueled by personal political ambition. Instead, he described the shift as a patriotic step motivated by the need to safeguard democracy and ensure a more promising future for Nigeria.
