The game’s decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Sadio Mané struck from the edge of the penalty area, sending the ball into the left corner past the Egyptian goalkeeper. The goal reflected Senegal’s patience and growing control after an evenly contested first hour.
With this win, Senegal will face either Nigeria’s Super Eagles or tournament hosts Morocco in the AFCON 2025 final on Sunday.
Egypt began the match confidently, controlling midfield possession and seeking quick breaks through Mohamed Salah. However, clear scoring opportunities were limited, as Senegal’s defense held firm under repeated pressure.
The first half was marked by frequent fouls and yellow cards, including bookings for Kalidou Koulibaly and Habib Diarra—both of whom will miss the final if Senegal progresses.
