The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, recently welcomed Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu for a meeting that bridged politics, sports, and business.
The gathering, held in the Federal Capital Territory, focused on fostering collaboration across the three sectors to support national development, Gossip News Now reports.
According to the APC, the discussion examined strategies for harmonising politics, sports, and business to maximise benefits for the country. Yilwatda emphasised that understanding the dynamics of each sector and fostering effective cooperation could create significant opportunities for national growth.
“Politics, sports, and business can be very interesting if properly understood,” the APC chairman said. He added that the conversation centred on achieving balance and synergy among the sectors, particularly by leveraging sports and enterprise to complement governance initiatives.
Yilwatda also highlighted that Kanu’s extensive experience as a global football icon and sports administrator added depth to the discussion.
Nwankwo Kanu, former captain of the Super Eagles, is a UEFA Champions League winner and former Premier League star with Arsenal. Beyond his football achievements, he remains a prominent figure in Nigerian sports administration and philanthropy through the Kanu Heart Foundation.
The meeting further recognised Kanu’s growing involvement in business and community development projects nationwide. Widely celebrated as one of Nigeria’s greatest football exports and affectionately known as “Papilo,” Kanu has used his platform to drive social impact, particularly in healthcare and youth empowerment.
The interaction reflects the growing engagement between political leaders and sports icons in Nigeria, underlining a shared commitment to holistic national development.
