Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has approved the appointment of eight new Permanent Secretaries as part of efforts to strengthen administrative efficiency and enhance service delivery across the state’s ministries and departments.
The appointments were announced in a press release dated January 21, 2026, issued by the Head of the Civil Service, Abigail Waya.
According to the statement, the selections form part of the governor’s strategy to reinvigorate the state’s public service and improve the implementation of government policies.
Waya explained that the appointees were chosen based on merit, experience, and their ability to contribute effectively to governance in Nasarawa State.
“The appointments are aimed at revitalising the public service and enhancing administrative effectiveness across ministries and departments,” she said.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
- Absolom Madawa – Akwanga Local Government Area
- Stephen Sasetu – Karu Local Government Area
- Khadija Suleiman – Keffi Local Government Area
- Hadiza Dohiru – Lafia Local Government Area
- Mohammed S. Mohammed – Lafia Local Government Area
- Yahaya Yakubu Ede – Nasarawa Local Government Area
- Salamatu Oseze Sani – Toto Local Government Area
- Sunday Iliya – Wamba Local Government Area
The Head of the Civil Service emphasised that the appointments were strictly merit-based, highlighting that the move would further strengthen governance structures and improve efficiency in public administration.
She added that the new Permanent Secretaries would play key roles in ensuring effective execution of government policies and the smooth functioning of ministries.
Waya also noted that the swearing-in ceremony would take place on a date to be announced by the state government, urging the appointees to leverage their experience in service to the state.
