Nigerian singer Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, popularly known as Jaywon, has urged upcoming entertainers not to equate success with numbers alone.
In an Instagram story post, Jaywon noted that having high streaming numbers, a strong PR machine, or a fat bank account does not automatically make someone the best artist.
“Many young artists and small-minded individuals think music is just about numbers,” he wrote. “You believe that because you’ve got streams, recognition, a strong PR machine, and money to throw around, that automatically makes you the best artist in the world, Lol.
“Music is about impact, changing minds, and touching souls. That’s why legends like Bob Marley and Fela Kuti continue to matter—their music is timeless.”
Jaywon also recently shared his thoughts on the public conversations surrounding Nollywood actress Regina Daniels’ marriage to businessman Ned Nwoko.
In another post on his Instagram story, the singer reflected on broader issues relating to marriage, wealth, and personal choices. He cautioned that decisions such as marrying for money, taking on the role of a second wife, or remaining in abusive relationships carry consequences, and stressed the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions.
