Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has formally launched the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic registration exercise in the state, describing it as a significant move toward deepening internal democracy and widening the party’s membership base.
The inauguration followed the governor’s return to the APC on Monday, according to a statement released on Tuesday in Kano by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.
Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf said the introduction of e-registration was aimed at modernising the party’s administrative framework and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of its membership records.
He described the initiative as transparent, inclusive, and technology-driven, noting that it would enable the APC to build a dependable and verifiable database of members across Kano State.
The governor encouraged party members and supporters to actively participate in the exercise, stressing that widespread involvement would promote trust, accountability, and transparency within the party.
Yusuf also praised the APC leadership for adopting digital solutions in managing party affairs, describing the move as timely and consistent with global best practices in political organisation.
According to him, the use of technology would enhance operational efficiency and ensure fairness in party processes, particularly during congresses and primary elections.
The statement further explained that the e-registration exercise would take place across all wards in Kano State, offering a seamless platform for both new and existing members to register and update their personal information.
It added that the initiative is expected to significantly increase participation and strengthen the party’s grassroots structure in preparation for future political activities.
