Former Senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Kabir Garba Marafa, has firmly dismissed claims circulating online that he has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the report as false and misleading.
The former lawmaker urged Nigerians to ignore the publication, stressing that it is entirely untrue.
Marafa, who served in the Senate from 2011 to 2019, stated that he formally resigned from the APC on August 28, 2025, along with thousands of his supporters across all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.
He recalled that during the 2023 presidential election, when he served as the APC’s Zamfara State Campaign Coordinator for President Bola Tinubu, he later accused the party of marginalising and neglecting him and his political structure after the polls.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Director-General (New Media) of his Media Office, Comrade Mansur M. Haruna, Senator Marafa categorically denied any return to the APC.
The statement called on media organisations to uphold the ethics of journalism by ensuring accuracy, verification, and responsible reporting.
“Our attention has been drawn to a publication by the online platform Ripples Nigeria, which falsely claimed that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) together with his supporters,” the statement said.
“We completely reject, refute, and disassociate ourselves from this false, baseless, and deliberately misleading report, which appears to be a sponsored propaganda intended to misinform the public and damage the reputation of our political leader.
“First, the publication contains glaring factual errors that severely undermine its credibility. It wrongly described Senator Kabir Garba Marafa OFR, CON (Marafan Gusau) as a member of the House of Representatives, whereas he is a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who proudly represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District from 2011 to 2019.
“The report also falsely linked him to Sokoto State, an assertion that is completely incorrect. Senator Marafa is a native of Zamfara State, a fact that is widely known and easily verifiable.
“More concerning is the unsubstantiated claim that he defected from the APC in 2018 to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This allegation is entirely fictitious, misleading, and rooted in political mischief, with no evidence or historical basis to support it.
“For clarity and record purposes, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa officially resigned from the APC on August 28, 2025. Since then, there has been no public declaration by him or his political associates indicating that he has joined or returned to any political party.
“It is therefore irresponsible and misleading for any media organisation to publish unverified claims suggesting that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has returned to the APC or aligned himself with any political platform.
“We urge the general public, party faithful, supporters, and the media to completely disregard this false and fabricated report. Should Senator Kabir Garba Marafa decide to join or align with any political party in the future, he will formally and transparently communicate such a decision, just as he openly announced his resignation from the APC,” the statement concluded.
