The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports claiming that the party has appointed a Southwest Chairman.
The clarification came in a statement issued on Thursday by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
Abdullahi emphasized that the party is not inaugurating any Southwest Chairman at this time and called on the public to ignore such misleading news.
“This is to inform the general public that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has not appointed any South West Chairman.
“Furthermore, the ADC is not inaugurating any South West Chairman at this time.
“The public is therefore advised to take note of this information and exercise caution regarding any claims or activities suggesting otherwise,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has warned his supporters, popularly known as Obidients, against insulting any member or leader of the ADC coalition.
Obi stressed that individuals attacking ADC members are not genuine supporters, but criminals pretending to be Obidients.
The former Governor of Anambra State explicitly distanced himself from those who abuse other ADC leaders, making it clear that he does not condone such behavior.
He further noted that ADC leaders are respected colleagues and brothers, and therefore his supporters should refrain from making negative remarks about them.
