Brand influencer Priscilla Ojo-Mkambala has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media alleging that she described postpartum depression as unreal and associated it with poverty.

According to reports, the mother of one clarified that the statement being attributed to her did not originate from her and should not, in any way, be linked to her views.

The controversy emerged on January 30, 2026, after a screenshot began circulating on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), suggesting that Priscilla claimed she did not experience postpartum depression and that the condition was tied to a person’s financial status.

Reacting via her Instagram story, Priscilla dismissed the claim as false and challenged those spreading it to provide evidence to support their assertions.

She made it clear that the statement being shared online was fabricated and wrongly presented as her opinion.

Priscilla further described the allegation as deeply hurtful and disrespectful to women who have experienced postpartum depression, stressing that linking such a condition to poverty is both inaccurate and insensitive.

“I never said this. What is wrong with Twitter people? Be ready to provide evidence,” she wrote.

“What do you mean by saying I claimed ‘postpartum depression is an illusion caused by poverty’? That is insulting to mothers and extremely insensitive.”

Postpartum depression is a recognized mental health condition that can affect some women after childbirth. Medical experts note that it can impact women regardless of their financial status, background, or social class, and in some cases may require professional medical or emotional support.

Priscilla, who is the daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, welcomed her first child in 2025. She has previously spoken about receiving strong family support after childbirth and has never suggested that postpartum depression is fake or influenced by wealth.
