APC Says ADC Is Intimidated by Ruling Party’s High Membership Turnout

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants are being forced to participate in its electronic membership registration, describing the allegations as baseless and driven by fear of the ruling party’s growing support.

In a statement released on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the opposition party’s accusations stem from intimidation over the massive turnout recorded in the ongoing e-registration exercise.

The response followed an earlier statement by the ADC on Sunday, in which the party alleged that public servants in some states were being compelled through economic pressure to register with the APC. ADC warned that such actions, if true, would undermine constitutional freedoms and threaten the neutrality of the civil service. The statement was signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

Reacting to the claims, the APC rejected the allegations outright, labeling them part of a deliberate disinformation effort aimed at discrediting the digital registration process. According to the ruling party, Nigerians are freely signing up in large numbers because they believe in the direction of the APC and its policies.

The APC stated that the popularity of the registration exercise forced the party to extend the deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026, due to sustained nationwide interest. It added that the enthusiasm reflects public confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda, not intimidation or coercion.

According to the APC, the ADC’s reaction—including the circulation of what it described as fake APC membership materials—is a sign of panic rather than legitimate concern. The party maintained that attempts to spread false narratives cannot diminish the credibility or success of its digital membership initiative.

The APC concluded that while the ADC continues to circulate misleading information, the ruling party remains focused on strengthening democratic participation and advancing digital innovation within Nigeria’s political system.
