There was a moment of mild political theatre on Monday during the unveiling of a book titled “Fintiri, the Man They Could Not Stop,” as Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, openly appealed to Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, to consider joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the event, Governor Sule revealed that he came prepared with a symbolic gift—a “Tinubu infinity cap”—should Fintiri decide to defect from the opposition to the APC.

Blending humour with political persuasion, Sule suggested that Fintiri’s principles and style of governance align closely with those of the APC.

“You have the APC in your DNA. We share the same values,” Sule said. “I brought a Tinubu infinity cap just in case you are considering joining the APC.”

He went on to reference the APC’s recent political advances across several states, hinting at the party’s expanding influence nationwide.

“Your Excellency, you have seen us making inroads in Delta, Enugu, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Kano, Plateau, and Taraba States. Who knows, this might just be another political mission I’m on,” Sule added.

Shifting to a more reflective tone, the Nasarawa State governor spoke about the realities of leadership, particularly the pressures that come with a second term in office, advising Fintiri to remain focused on purposeful and principled governance.

“As a second-term governor, I understand the burden of leadership—the isolation that comes with decision-making and the courage required to govern with conviction under pressure,” Sule said.

“Leadership is not about chasing popularity at all costs. It is about clarity of purpose, consistency in service, patience, and the fear of God,” he added.
