Security operatives have been placed on heightened alert following reports that a large group of armed Fulani herders has moved into parts of Benue State and reportedly established camps within a valley linking Ogbaulu Atakpa in Agatu Local Government Area and Akpete in Apa Local Government Area.

Sources familiar with the situation disclosed that personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and other tactical units have been strategically deployed to the affected locations to prevent potential attacks on nearby communities.

According to the sources, security agencies have intensified surveillance and monitoring operations in the area to ensure the protection of residents and maintain normal socio-economic activities.

Members of the public have been advised to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security authorities, as operations continue and further updates are anticipated.

Gunmen Abduct Two Residents in Osun Community

Meanwhile, suspected gunmen have kidnapped two residents of Ora-Igbomina, a community in Osun State that shares a boundary with Kwara State.

According to a report by Punch, the attackers invaded a private residence located along Aran–Orin Road in the Papa area of the town on Sunday night.

The abduction reportedly occurred during a temporary break in police patrols caused by heavy rainfall, a situation the Osun State Police Command has since acknowledged.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants acted swiftly, firing gunshots into the air to instil fear before forcefully taking their victims and fleeing through nearby bush paths.

One resident, identified simply as Mulikat, narrated the incident, saying gunshots were heard around 11:30 p.m. She explained that the attackers entered a house along Aran–Orin Road and abducted two men, adding that some residents attempted to pursue the kidnappers but were unable to follow them into the bush.

Residents further noted that the attackers appeared to have good knowledge of the terrain, taking advantage of the darkness and the network of bush paths connecting communities in Osun and Kwara States to escape without resistance.
