Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has publicly encouraged his nephew, Nigerian music star Davido, after the singer missed out on a win at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Gossip News Now reports that despite the outcome, Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, remained optimistic and reflective after the ceremony.
Following the awards, the singer shared photos from the event on his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account, expressing gratitude and faith in a short message written in pidgin English.
“Oluwa Dey my side,” he wrote, meaning “God is on my side.”
Reacting to the post, Governor Adeleke, who has consistently shown strong support for his nephew’s music career, posted a message of encouragement.
“Proud of you always @davido,” the governor wrote.
Davido responded warmly to the message, replying, “Love u Excellency!!! We move ACCORDINGLY SIR.”
Gossip News Now reports that Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration With You, featuring Omah Lay. However, the award was claimed by South African singer Tyla, who secured her second win in the category after previously taking home the prize for Water when the category was first introduced.
Despite missing out on the prestigious honour, the DMW boss remained upbeat, drawing strength from his faith and the continued support of his family, fans, and colleagues within the music industry.
