Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibril, has expressed strong confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing victory in the 2027 general elections, citing the party’s widespread control across the country as a major advantage.
Speaking at a political event where party supporters endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, for re-election in 2027, Barau emphasised that the APC’s hold on 29 state governments provides the party with solid political influence and operational strength nationwide.
He explained that the party’s dominance across several states is more than a numerical achievement, noting that it strengthens governance structures and enhances the party’s chances of maintaining leadership at the national level. According to him, such widespread grassroots presence gives the APC a strategic edge in mobilising support and implementing policies effectively.
Barau further stated that the endorsement of President Tinubu was based on what he described as measurable achievements in key sectors. He pointed to developments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and national security as evidence that the administration is making meaningful progress.
Drawing from his close working relationship with the President, the Deputy Senate President said he has direct knowledge of the government’s reform strategies and policy direction. He added that the administration is focused on building long-term systems that will promote stability and sustainable growth in the country.
While acknowledging public concerns about the rising cost of living, Barau attributed the economic pressure partly to global challenges, including international conflicts and economic disruptions affecting many nations. He noted that despite these difficulties, the federal government is implementing measures aimed at stabilising the economy and delivering long-term benefits.
He also stressed the importance of unity within the APC and cooperation among political stakeholders. According to him, maintaining political stability and fostering collaboration are essential for effective governance and for enabling the President to fully execute his development agenda.
