Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Ganiyu Morufu—widely known as Ijoba Lande—has accused officers of the Nigeria Police Force of physically assaulting him during an encounter in Lagos.
The entertainer shared the allegation in a post on his Facebook page, stating that personnel attached to the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Command were responsible for the incident.
According to him, the officers not only assaulted him but also confiscated his mobile device and allegedly took cash said to belong to his brother.
In a video circulated alongside his claim, Ijoba Lande appeared with noticeable injuries, including bleeding around his eye area, while people nearby tried to clean his face by pouring water on it.
Another clip showed him inside what looked like a police facility, where he seemed to be making efforts to formally report the incident after the alleged attack.
He further disclosed that the episode happened barely six days after he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom, though he did not provide specific details about the exact location or circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
Ijoba Lande alleged that during the encounter, officers seized his iPhone 16 Pro Max and took about $1,200, which he said belonged to his brother.
The comedian, known for his online skits and roles in Yoruba-language Nollywood productions, has since drawn widespread reactions on social media following his account of the incident.
