Popular Nigerian rapper and human rights advocate Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has faulted the Federal Government’s response to the recent deadly attack in Kwara State, accusing leaders of neglecting citizens’ safety while focusing on future political ambitions.

Falz made his position known in a video message shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, where he questioned why political actors are already laying the groundwork for the 2027 general elections amid persistent violence across the country.

Reacting to the killings in Kwara, the rapper expressed frustration that the government’s reaction appeared limited to official condemnations, with no visible steps taken to ensure accountability.

His comments follow the brutal attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, which occurred on February 3, 2026.

According to reports from the Red Cross, no fewer than 162 people lost their lives during the assault, which shocked communities nationwide.

Reports indicated that the assailants went from house to house, killing residents after the villages allegedly rejected demands to adopt the attackers’ version of Sharia law.

The armed group responsible for the violence is believed to have links with either Boko Haram or the Islamic State-aligned Lakurawa faction.

Accounts from the affected areas revealed that several victims were restrained before being killed, further deepening public outrage over the incident.

In response, President Bola Tinubu ordered the deployment of an army battalion to Kwara State under Operation Savannah Shield and publicly condemned the attack.

However, Falz argued that such measures fall short, stressing that no arrests or prosecutions have been announced weeks after the killings.

He also criticized political parties for continuing with campaign-related activities while families and communities affected by the violence are still grieving.

The rapper expressed concern that politicians are already appointing regional coordinators and building campaign structures ahead of 2027, despite electoral laws stipulating that campaigns should begin only a few months before elections.

Falz further took aim at some religious leaders, accusing them of remaining silent on pressing national issues.

He particularly condemned their lack of response after the Senate rejected a bill seeking to enforce real-time electronic transmission of election results.

According to him, allowing politicians to use religious platforms for campaigning while avoiding difficult conversations about governance enables poor leadership.

He added that relying solely on prayers without decisive action has failed to address Nigeria’s security challenges.

In his words, he questioned why no one has been arrested or prosecuted following the killing of nearly 200 people, noting that the nation often moves on without justice.

Falz also lamented that while citizens are dying daily, government attention appears fixed on election preparations rather than protecting lives.
