A pastor of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, who was abducted by gunmen in Kogi State, has regained his freedom after spending several days in captivity.
The cleric was kidnapped on Friday, December 27, 2025, along the Oke-Offin axis of the Kabba/Bunu area while on his way to his farm. He was later released unharmed and reportedly found in Aiyetoro Gbedde, within Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
Sources within the community disclosed that the pastor was abandoned by his captors, and no ransom was paid to secure his release. A local community platform, Egbe Mekun, also corroborated claims that the cleric’s freedom was not ransom-induced.
According to information from SaharaReporters, the pastor is in stable condition and is expected to reunite with his family shortly.
The abduction occurred when the pastor was travelling on a commercial motorcycle to his farm in Oke-Offin. Armed men reportedly intercepted the motorcycle along the route.
While the commercial rider managed to escape the ambush without sustaining injuries, the pastor was seized and taken away by the assailants.
Earlier eyewitness accounts revealed that the incident took place along the Oke-Offin–Okoro Gbedde axis, where the pastor and the motorcycle rider ran into the gunmen unexpectedly.
Upon sighting the attackers, the pastor reportedly jumped off the motorcycle in a bid to escape.
“The commercial rider was able to flee, but the pastor was captured and taken to an unknown location,” a source recounted.
The pastor’s release has brought relief to residents of the area, who had expressed growing concern over repeated security incidents along rural roads in parts of Kogi State.
