Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of nine new Permanent Secretaries into the state’s public service, a move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and strengthening policy implementation across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya.
According to the statement, the approvals were made in line with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
Onasanya explained that Governor Abiodun carefully considered merit, professionalism, inclusiveness, and relevant experience in the state’s civil and public service before approving the appointments.
He noted that the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries emerged from a pool of directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme, a process designed to ensure leadership continuity and boost the operational capacity of MDAs.
The appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
- Abdul-Azeez Ajidele – Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Justice
- Olufunmilayo Soyoye-Baker – Director of Agriculture and State Coordinating Director, Cash Transfer Unit
- Adebimpe Obienu – Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice
- Kafayat Lawal – Executive Secretary, Alternate Medicine Board
- Ahmed Adetona – Director of Audit, Office of the Auditor-General (State)
- Idowu Onasanya – Director of Administration and Supplies, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
- Olalekan Taiwo – Director of Payment, State Treasury Office
- Akintomiwa Osibodu – Director of Administration and Supplies, Teaching Service Commission
- Kehinde Akintomide – Director of Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment
In addition, Governor Abiodun also approved the appointment of two Principals-General and four Headteachers-General to fill vacant positions within the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), as part of efforts to strengthen administrative processes in the education sector.
The newly appointed Principals-General are Mr Matthew Adeyinka Osilesi (Remo Division) and Mr Yakubu Olorunyomi Lamidi (Ijebu Division).
The newly appointed Headteachers-General include:
- Benjamin Alonge – Ijebu Division
- Aminat Busari – Remo Division
- Olusegun Akapo – Yewa Division
- Folake Onabanjo – Egba Division
Onasanya disclosed that the education-sector appointees were selected from candidates earlier shortlisted through a rigorous screening and evaluation process.
He urged all the newly appointed officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by exhibiting utmost dedication, selflessness, and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities.
