AC Milan have finalized the loan signing of German striker Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham United, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Fullkrug, 32, joined West Ham ahead of the 2024-2025 campaign following an impressive season at Borussia Dortmund, where he played a key role in helping the Bundesliga side reach the Champions League final, starting in the clash against Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium.
However, the striker struggled to replicate that form in the Premier League, finding limited opportunities amid a period of managerial turnover at West Ham, which saw the club cycle through three permanent managers.
He scored just three league goals in 26 appearances, netting twice in nine matches under Julen Lopetegui and once in 13 outings during Graham Potter’s tenure. His involvement diminished further after the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo in September, featuring only twice in the league for a total of 178 minutes before the club sanctioned a move.
The transfer to Italy offers Fullkrug a fresh start at a title-contending Milan, currently second in Serie A under coach Massimiliano Allegri, just one point behind city rivals Inter Milan. The Rossoneri remain unbeaten in 15 league games since their opening-day defeat to Cremonese.
Milan are scheduled to face Cagliari on Friday, with Fullkrug already training with his new teammates. The striker will don the number nine shirt and is expected to provide a physical presence to complement a side that has often relied on Christian Pulisic in a two-man attack within the club’s 3-5-2 system this season.
