Former presidential aspirant and Accord Party leader, Christopher Imumolen, has revealed that the internal crisis within the party existed long before Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State defected to the platform.

Speaking on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” on Monday, Imumolen addressed ongoing disputes within the party, emphasizing that Adeleke’s arrival did not trigger the leadership tussle.

“I have been fighting this battle for some time. We have taken matters to court and addressed disputes at the party secretariat. These challenges existed before Adeleke’s defection,” Imumolen explained.

He noted that the party deliberately kept its internal disagreements away from public scrutiny.

“What I’m saying is that we just kept quiet because, in the party, sometimes, we don’t want members of the public to know about our internal issues,” he said.

Imumolen also pointed out that he has previously discussed these issues in various media engagements, highlighting the party’s ongoing efforts to maintain stability and cohesion.

“Whether Adeleke joined the party or not, we remain responsible for guiding the Accord Party and ensuring it stays united,” he added.

The Accord Party leadership, under Imumolen, insists it is taking proactive steps to preserve the party’s integrity and continuity amid ongoing political developments.
