The Accord Party (AP) has dismissed reports of internal division, describing them as unfounded claims manufactured by “political jobbers” and opposition elements seeking to destabilize the party.

In a statement issued by Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael—Spokesperson of the Forum of State Chairmen (South West) and Chairman of Accord in Ogun State—the party clarified that its National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, has not been suspended, contrary to false reports trending online.

According to him, “The rumour making rounds that our National Chairman, Mr. Maxwell Mgbudem, Esq., has been suspended, is absolutely and totally false.” He added that during the National Executive Committee meeting held on December 3, 2025, a vote of confidence was passed on Mgbudem and the entire National Working Committee, with no disciplinary action taken against him at any time.

Reaffirming the party’s stability, Hon. Oke stated, “Accord remains a law-abiding, constitutionally guided party. No individual can instigate chaos through baseless allegations.”

The party also dismissed statements issued by former presidential candidate Prof. Chris Imumolen, who has been leading a faction claiming that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection to Accord was invalid and did not follow due process.

Governor Adeleke recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Accord, citing internal crises.

Hon. Oke clarified that Prof. Imumolen was expelled from the party for multiple acts of anti-party behavior, including attempts to seize control of party structures, forcefully entering the national secretariat in 2024, and creating internal disorder.

“Given such a track record, it is comical that an expelled member still claims authority within the party,” he said, urging the public to disregard all statements from Imumolen’s camp.

In addition, the Osun State Accord Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, debunked allegations against the party and its governorship candidate, Governor Adeleke. He confirmed that Adeleke officially joined Accord on November 6, 2025, received public recognition on December 9, 2025, and validly emerged as the party’s governorship candidate after the primary on December 10, 2025.

Pastor Akande challenged critics and rival parties to focus on showcasing their own achievements instead of spreading misinformation online.

“Elections are not conducted on social media,” he said. “Anyone serious about contesting should step out and present what they have achieved. Osun State is Accord, and Accord is Osun State.”
