Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has urged people in Zamfara State to align with the African Democratic Congress, saying the party is positioning itself as a vehicle for confronting insecurity and easing economic hardship.
During an engagement with party supporters in Gusau on Sunday, El-Rufai said the ADC intends to pursue practical solutions that can improve safety, strengthen the economy, and encourage higher food production in the state. He presented the message as part of a wider push to convince residents that the party has a clear direction for governance.
According to Gossip News Now, he also appealed to members of the party to remain disciplined and united, warning against internal actions that could weaken the ADC’s chances of building momentum in Zamfara and beyond.
Beyond party loyalty, El-Rufai placed strong emphasis on grassroots mobilisation. He encouraged supporters to work closely with women and youth groups so that the ADC’s plans can reach more communities and gain broader acceptance across the state.
He further called on residents to begin preparing politically ahead of the 2027 elections by ensuring they secure their Permanent Voter’s Cards. In his view, political change will only be meaningful if supporters are fully ready to participate in the electoral process when the time comes.
The visit was welcomed by party officials, who described it as an important step toward consolidating the ADC’s structure in Zamfara. The party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Abubakar Atiku, reportedly said the event would help improve unity and internal stability among members in the state.
At the local level, Zamfara ADC chairman Alhaji Kabiru Garba pointed to the turnout as evidence of the party’s growing appeal. He noted that women and young people from all 14 local government areas were present, a sign that the ADC may be widening its influence across the state.
The gathering was not limited to party members alone. It also drew local political figures, religious leaders, and other stakeholders from the community, many of whom expressed support for the party’s message on security, economic recovery, and inclusive leadership.
Taken together, the event served as both a political rally and a statement of intent. It highlighted the ADC’s effort to present itself as a serious alternative in Zamfara at a time when public concern over hardship and insecurity remains high.
Commentary and Analysis
El-Rufai’s message appears designed to connect directly with the two issues that dominate daily life for many residents: insecurity and economic pressure. By focusing on those themes, the ADC is clearly trying to ground its appeal in practical concerns rather than abstract political slogans.
Another notable feature of the event is the emphasis on grassroots expansion. The attention given to women, youths, and community-level engagement suggests the party understands that long-term relevance in Zamfara will depend on building support beyond elite political circles.
The turnout from all local government areas, if sustained, could become an important sign of the ADC’s rising visibility in the state. Whether that energy translates into electoral strength will depend on how well the party maintains unity and turns campaign promises into a convincing political structure.
