Aisha Yesufu Declares Loyalty to ADC Pledges to Become Card-Carrying Member

Prominent Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has officially pledged her support to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday in Enugu State, Yesufu revealed that she has never been a card-carrying member of any political party, but she is ready to change that with her new affiliation to the ADC.

The announcement came at the same venue where former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi formally defected to the ADC. Yesufu described Obi as her political leader and affirmed her commitment to joining him in efforts to “rescue Nigeria.”

Peter Obi, who left the Labour Party alongside other leaders from the South-East geopolitical zone, emphasized the importance of opposition unity for the 2027 elections.

“It is time for opposition leaders to come together and work collectively to rescue Nigeria,” Obi said. He further urged all opposition members to align under the ADC, led by former Senate President David Mark, as part of a coordinated effort to confront Nigeria’s political challenges.

Obi added, “We are ending this year with the hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey. We will resist the rigging of elections by every lawful means in 2027.”

Yesufu’s declaration marks a significant political endorsement for the ADC as the party positions itself for the upcoming electoral cycle.
