Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor and ex-presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, has clarified that he was not the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the recently concluded Anambra State governorship election.
According to Gossip News Now , Moghalu issued the statement on Tuesday morning via X, addressing reports linking him to the LP candidacy.
He expressed concern over publications that incorrectly named him as the Labour Party’s candidate and, in some cases, paired his photograph with the reports.
Moghalu described the claims as false, suggesting that journalists had mistakenly confused him with George Moghalu, who was the actual Labour Party nominee for the Anambra governorship race.
He wrote, “I was dismayed to see multiple news articles and media posts on the recent Anambra State governorship election claiming that ‘Kingsley Moghalu’ was the Labour Party candidate, some even including my photo. These reports are incorrect, unfortunate, and reflect careless reporting, as they seem to have conflated me with Chief George Moghalu, the actual LP candidate.”
He further clarified, “To be clear, I am not a member of any political party in Nigeria. I did not contest the Anambra State governorship election on November 8, 2025. I officially stepped back from active partisan politics in September 2022, prior to the 2023 presidential election.”
Moghalu also reminded the public of his past political role, stating, “I was the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) during the 2019 presidential election.”
