Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologized to her colleague Mercy Johnson, as well as her children and family, seeking to mend past misunderstandings.
In a video shared on her Instagram, Okorie first expressed gratitude to her fans worldwide for their unwavering support. She acknowledged her imperfections and noted that maturity and life experiences have shaped her perspective.
Clarifying Past Misunderstandings
Okorie explained that throughout their years in the film industry, disagreements between her and Mercy Johnson were often fueled by third-party rumors. Miscommunications led to tension, arguments, and public quarrels, but she stated that she no longer wants such conflicts at this stage of her life.
She admitted regret for any hurt caused by her words or online posts referencing Mercy Johnson and emphasized that she meant no harm. Okorie cleared Mercy of negative labels and described her apology as sincere and heartfelt.
Concern for Their Children
The actress also spoke about their children, highlighting that they may meet and form friendships anywhere in the world. Okorie stressed that parental disputes should never interfere with children’s relationships. She condemned any bullying directed at Mercy Johnson’s children, particularly in school, and vowed to oppose such actions if her own child were involved.
A Fresh Start and Mutual Reconciliation
Okorie urged forgiveness from anyone she may have offended, knowingly or unknowingly, and described herself as a peaceful person who values harmony. She revealed that both she and Mercy Johnson had already spoken privately, exchanged apologies, and settled their differences.
She promised to avoid relying on rumors in the future, choosing instead to reach out directly if issues arise. Okorie concluded by expressing love and prayers for Mercy Johnson’s continued success and well-being.
“This message is specifically for Mercy, her kids, and her family. Over the years, misunderstandings arose because of what people said. I regret any hurt I may have caused. You are not a witch, and you are not what people say. This is a new beginning. You are my friend, and I will never listen to rumors about you again. God knows I hold nothing against you. I love you, and I pray for your success and blessings,” she said.
The apology follows reports that Okorie was recently arrested in Lagos by the state’s Criminal Investigation Department over allegations of cyberstalking, threats, and harassment. She was later granted bail of ₦5 million.
