Nollywood actress and singer Angela Okorie is still being held at the Suleja Correctional Centre, despite securing bail granted by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.
According to reports, the presiding judge approved bail for the actress in the sum of ₦5 million, with the requirement of one surety in the same amount, who must be a Level 13 civil servant.
Although the bail conditions were successfully fulfilled through the intervention of several prominent activists and public figures, Angela Okorie has not yet been released due to administrative timing issues.
Her bail process was reportedly supported by a group of well-known individuals, including activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, veteran actress Mama Pee, actor Stanley Ontop, and human rights advocate Randy Peter.
Despite the completion of all required bail procedures, the actress remains in custody at the correctional facility.
Providing clarification on the delay, actor Stanley Ontop explained via an Instagram post that the bail documentation was finalized after official working hours on Friday, making it impossible for prison authorities to process her release before the weekend.
“Angela Okorie’s bail has been processed, but by the time we completed everything, it was already past working hours,” he wrote.
“She will be released from Suleja prison on Monday. All bail conditions have been met, and we are now waiting for Monday for her release.”
