The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has revealed that the party is carefully managing the impeachment tensions surrounding Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Yilwatda made this known on Sunday during an interview with Trust TV, amid heightened political uncertainty in the state.

Speaking on the Rivers State crisis, the APC chairman disclosed that the party has already commenced discussions with key stakeholders to calm the situation and defuse the impeachment moves reportedly directed at Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

He posed a rhetorical question, saying, “Are you still hearing anything about the impeachment of Rivers State Governor Fubara?” He added that the APC is engaging lawmakers on the matter, describing it as an internal party issue.

Yilwatda explained that the APC has established internal conflict-resolution structures, which he said set the party apart from others.

“That is what makes the APC different from other political parties. We have several mechanisms for resolving our internal challenges,” he said.

Describing the party’s strategy in Rivers State, the APC chairman referred to it as a “self-healing” process designed to restore stability and order in the oil-producing state.

He stated, “We have put in place various mechanisms that allow the party to resolve issues and heal itself whenever challenges arise, and that is exactly what we are doing in Rivers.

“We are stabilising the political environment in Rivers State, strengthening our position, and ensuring that we maximise opportunities so that we can secure overwhelming victories in the state.”
