APC in Tambuwal Accuses Former Leaders of Letting Community Down

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State has taken a swipe at former governor Aminu Tambuwal, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful development to his community while in office.

The party made its position known during an APC stakeholders’ gathering held in Tambuwal, where the local government chairman of the party, Isa Achida, contrasted Tambuwal’s record with what he described as the achievements of the current administration under Governor Ahmed Aliyu.

According to Achida, Aliyu’s government has restored the importance of local councils by initiating visible projects, making strategic appointments, and rolling out empowerment programmes that directly impact residents at the grassroots level.

He argued that these interventions clearly demonstrate a commitment to inclusive governance, which he said was lacking in previous administrations.

Achida also criticised Tambuwal’s role in a newly formed political coalition, dismissing it as a regrouping of familiar political actors with no fresh ideas. He described the alliance as “old wine in a new bottle,” made up of politicians who have merely switched party platforms over the years.

“They present themselves as something new, but the faces are well known,” Achida said. “These are the same politicians who failed our state in the past.”

He called on young people in Tambuwal Local Government to back continuity, urging them not to be swayed by what he described as a coalition that offers nothing different. He added that Governor Aliyu has delivered more tangible benefits to the area within a short time than earlier governments.

The APC chairman also applauded the organisers of the stakeholders’ meeting, describing it as well-timed, and formally received defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC fold.

Among those who defected, Achida noted, were three former councillors, who he said were attracted by the governor’s development-focused leadership.

He assured the new members of full inclusion and equal rights within the APC, encouraging them to return to their respective wards to mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This gathering is a family meeting for the APC,” Achida concluded. “It gives us the opportunity to review the achievements of our government and prepare strategically for the future.”
