APC Youth League Rejects ‘Coalition,’ Reaffirms Support for Minister Bagudu

A youth faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North West has openly rejected a group claiming to represent party support interests in Kebbi State, describing it as lacking any official standing within the party structure.

The group, known as the APC Youth League, made its position clear during a media briefing in Kaduna, where its National Coordinator, Comrade Aliyu Suleiman, dismissed the so-called coalition as irrelevant and unrecognized across all tiers of the party.

According to Gossip News Now, the youth leaders insisted that the alleged coalition does not exist within the APC’s formal framework, noting that it has no presence or contribution at ward, local government, state, or national levels.

Suleiman argued that beyond its questionable status, the group has not demonstrated any meaningful involvement in party-building activities. He suggested that its emergence appears tied more to opportunism than genuine political engagement.

In a strong show of loyalty, the youth league reaffirmed its backing for the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. The group described him as a key pillar within the APC, whose influence extends beyond Kebbi State to the broader North West region.

They credited Bagudu with playing a significant role in strengthening governance and fostering unity within the party. His leadership style, they noted, reflects a commitment to policies that benefit citizens while also promoting youth inclusion.

Highlighting his impact, the league pointed to several areas where his influence has been felt:

  • Strengthening party cohesion and internal stability

  • Supporting youth-focused initiatives and development programs

  • Contributing to policy direction at the national level

The youth wing also criticized the coalition’s recent comments, branding them as attempts to create unnecessary division. They accused the group of trying to weaken the party’s progress through misleading narratives.

Suleiman warned that such actions could distract from the achievements recorded under the current leadership, urging members to remain focused on sustaining growth and unity within the APC.

He further called on party supporters across the region to rally behind Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, stressing that collective support is essential for continued development and political stability.

Commentary & Analysis

This development underscores ongoing internal tensions within political parties, where unofficial groups sometimes attempt to assert influence without formal recognition. The APC Youth League’s response appears aimed at protecting the party’s structure from fragmentation.

By reaffirming support for Senator Bagudu, the group is also sending a broader message about loyalty and continuity within the APC’s leadership framework. Their stance suggests that maintaining unity, especially at the grassroots level, remains a priority as the party navigates regional dynamics.

Ultimately, the rejection of the coalition reflects a struggle for legitimacy and control, a common feature in Nigeria’s political landscape where influence often determines narrative.
