Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has offered an update on his squad’s fitness as the Gunners prepare to face Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Following a 1-1 draw with Chelsea over the weekend, Arsenal aim to regain momentum in the midweek fixture. Ahead of the match, Arteta spoke to the media about the availability of key players: Kai Havertz, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Leandro Trossard.

Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhães Still Weeks Away

Arteta revealed that Havertz remains some way off returning to action.

“Kai Havertz is still weeks away. We are all desperate to have him. I mean, he is a player I personally love for what he brings to the team, his character, his personality. I see him suffer being outside,” he said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Similarly, Gabriel Magalhães is making steady progress but is still several weeks from full training.

“Gabriel Magalhães is doing very well, but it will take weeks to see him back,” Arteta confirmed.

Encouraging Signs for Saliba and Trossard

Supporters received more positive news regarding William Saliba and Leandro Trossard. Arteta indicated that their injuries are less severe and both could be available sooner.

“For William Saliba and Leandro Trossard, hopefully it’s a matter of days,” he said.

The Arsenal manager also described Saliba’s setback as unusual, calling it “a very bizarre injury… but hopefully it will be a short time out.”
