Atalanta have dismissed head coach Ivan Juric after a 3-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo on Sunday, bringing his brief stint in charge to an abrupt end.
Juric, who took over in the summer to succeed long-serving manager Gian Piero Gasperini, leaves the Serie A side in 13th place with only two wins from 11 league matches.
The club has struggled in recent weeks, collecting just six points from their last eight games and failing to secure a victory in the previous two league fixtures.
Gossip News Now reports that Atalanta confirmed the decision on Monday, November 10, 2025, in an official statement.
The club stated:
“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team, along with his closest staff members Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Pablo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojic, and Michele Orecchio. We thank them for their contributions and wish them success in the future.”
The sacking came after the club reportedly warned Juric that his performance in two critical matches — against Marseille in the Champions League and Sassuolo in Serie A — would determine his future.
Clash with Ademola Lookman
While Atalanta defeated Marseille, the match was overshadowed by a heated touchline altercation between Juric and Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, attracting widespread media attention and intensifying pressure on the coach.
The heavy 3-0 defeat to Sassuolo at home ultimately sealed Juric’s fate.
Italian reports suggest that former Monza and Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino is the frontrunner to take over the role.
Atalanta are expected to announce the new head coach officially in the coming days as the club seeks to stabilise its campaign and climb the Serie A standings.
Juric’s exit marks the club’s first major managerial change since the Gasperini era, reflecting growing concern over their disappointing performances this season.
