Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged members of the African Democratic Congress to intensify efforts toward building a broad coalition capable of confronting the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The former presidential candidate made the appeal during a meeting with ADC leaders from across Nigeria. Party officials representing the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory visited him at his Abuja residence shortly after he formally joined the party.
According to Gossip News Now, the gathering was organised by state party chairmen to welcome Atiku and discuss the next phase of political mobilisation.

The delegation was reportedly led by Ogga Kingsley, who coordinated the visit involving party officials from different parts of the country.
During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening the party’s national structure and building momentum for future political contests.
Atiku expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the party’s leadership at the state level for their willingness to support what he described as a national political movement.
Call for Immediate Political Mobilisation
While addressing the delegation, the former vice president encouraged ADC members to intensify their organisational activities.
He stressed that political leaders who share similar concerns about Nigeria’s direction should unite and work collectively rather than remain undecided.
According to him, building a broad coalition requires early mobilisation and cooperation among political stakeholders across the country.
Emphasis on National Unity and Reform
Atiku also used the meeting to reiterate his vision for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
He maintained that political actors who desire change must prioritise unity and cooperation in order to achieve meaningful reforms.
In his view, collaboration among opposition forces could create a stronger platform for addressing issues such as security, economic growth, and national development.
Commentary and Analysis
The meeting between Atiku and ADC state leaders reflects a broader effort by opposition figures to reorganise ahead of future elections in Nigeria.
Political coalitions often play an important role in Nigerian politics, particularly when opposition groups attempt to challenge an established ruling party.
Analysts note that such alliances require careful coordination because participating parties must align their policies, leadership structures, and political strategies.
Whether the ADC coalition gains broader national traction will likely depend on how effectively party leaders mobilise support at both the grassroots and national levels.
For now, Atiku’s engagement with ADC leaders signals the early stages of a potential realignment within Nigeria’s political landscape.
