Atletico Madrid Lodge Complaint With UEFA Over Hot Water Failure at Emirates Stadium

Atletico Madrid have submitted an official complaint to UEFA after their players were left without hot water in the dressing rooms at the Emirates Stadium following their final training session ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Arsenal.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Diego Simeone’s squad arrived at the North London stadium around 5:30 p.m. to train under light rain, only to find that the showers were not functioning. Despite promptly alerting Arsenal’s staff, the issue reportedly remained unresolved throughout the session.

The Spanish club expressed shock that such a malfunction could occur at one of Europe’s most modern stadiums, especially on the eve of a major UEFA competition. Describing the incident as “unacceptable,” Atletico lodged a formal protest to UEFA, citing poor facility management.

As a result, players and staff were forced to return to their hotel to freshen up and prepare for the game — a situation that reportedly caused frustration within the team’s camp.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta brushed aside the off-field drama, maintaining focus on his team’s form and title ambitions as he spoke to the media ahead of the match.

The Gunners currently sit three points clear at the top of the Premier League following a 1-0 victory over Fulham and Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United. Arsenal have gone unbeaten in five straight league matches and eight across all competitions since their August defeat at Anfield.

“The only thing I focus on is the team — the energy, the commitment, and the quality we can show,” Arteta said.

“That gives me the belief that we can go all the way. But belief is one thing; you still have to prove it every match. Every game in this league is a must-win, so we stay grounded and keep pushing.”
