The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and his three co-defendants in the alleged $9.7 million terrorism financing case against them.

The ruling was delivered on Tuesday by Justice Muhammad Umar, who set bail for each defendant at ₦100 million.

Justice Umar ordered that each defendant provide two sureties, required to be a permanent secretary and a director in the civil service, and directed that their international passports be deposited with the court registry as part of bail conditions.

Additionally, the court instructed the defendants to report weekly to the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Bauchi State every Monday until the resolution of the case.

In his ruling, Justice Umar noted that the defendants had presented sufficient evidence to justify the exercise of judicial discretion in their favour.

“The defendants have placed enough materials before this court for the court to exercise its discretion judicially and judiciously,” the judge stated.

The commissioner and his co-defendants deny all allegations of terrorism financing involving the $9.7 million.

The court subsequently adjourned the case to February 26 for the commencement of trial.
