Bayern Munich Downplay Osimhen Speculation as Kane Remains Key to Summer Strategy

Bayern Munich have moved to cool speculation linking them with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, maintaining that there is no immediate need to strengthen their central attacking options.

According to German outlet Bild, the Bundesliga champions have clarified their position during recent internal and external discussions regarding their transfer plans.

It is understood that Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has made it clear that Osimhen would only come into serious consideration if Harry Kane were to contemplate leaving the club at the end of the season.

“During the latest contact, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl underlined the club’s stance, stressing there is no urgency. Osimhen would only become a realistic option should Harry Kane consider a summer departure,” Bild reported.

However, such a scenario currently appears improbable. Despite Kane having a release clause that would allow him to leave Bayern in the summer for a reported €65 million—valid until the end of January—there are no indications that the England captain plans to trigger it.

“That outcome is not considered likely. While Kane does have a clause enabling a summer exit for €65m until the end of January, there are no concrete signs of a move. On the contrary, Bild reports that Kane has opted against activating the clause,” the report added.

As a result, any immediate pursuit of Osimhen has effectively been ruled out. Nevertheless, Bayern are said to be keeping an eye on the transfer market as part of their longer-term squad planning.

The German giants are reportedly interested in securing a dependable back-up option for Kane, although identifying a suitable candidate has proven challenging.

“Bayern are still monitoring the market. Internally, signing a reliable alternative to Kane is viewed as a preferred solution,” Bild stated.

“A permanent deal for on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson, who is currently with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, is considered unlikely.”

Osimhen has previously been linked with Bayern Munich and is believed to be open to a potential move to the Bundesliga.

According to Bild, the striker holds Bayern in high regard and was recently proposed to the club through an intermediary, with Galatasaray reportedly open to offers as they seek to generate funds. For now, however, Bayern’s stance remains firm, with any renewed interest tied closely to Kane’s future.

The 27-year-old forward is currently on international duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Osimhen remains under contract with Galatasaray until the summer of 2029 and is valued at approximately €75 million.
