Reality TV star Adekunle Olopade has provided new details regarding his ongoing claims against the Nigerian Police.
Previously, the media personality had alleged that he was assaulted and harassed by police officers following a night drive in his mother’s car.
In an update shared on his 𝕏 account, Adekunle confirmed that the officers involved have now been prosecuted.
He wrote: “The past few days have been difficult, but I want to share some positive news. I’m grateful to the Lagos State Police Command Complaint Response Unit for their swift action, from reaching out immediately when the news broke to following up to ensure everything was handled properly.”
Adekunle explained that he had been in contact with the ACP in charge of Area J Command, Elemoro, Ibeju Lekki, providing all necessary information to make sure the responsible officers were identified and disciplined.
He expressed excitement about the outcome and encouraged citizens not to be intimidated by authorities. Adekunle urged Nigerians to report any instances of harassment or police brutality, highlighting the importance of gathering evidence.
He added: “I just left Elemoro Police Station, and thanks to ACP Oluyemisi Ojo’s diligent investigation, the officers were found and disciplinary measures have been taken. Justice has been served! The relief and emotional weight lifted from my shoulders is indescribable. It’s encouraging to see justice prevail even when public trust in the police is low.”
Adekunle further advised: “For anyone mistreated by police officers, make sure to report it, collect as much evidence as possible, and pursue the matter. The Lagos State Complaint Response Unit works to protect citizens and ensure accountability for bad officers.”
