United States forward Benjamin Cremaschi emerged as the Golden Boot winner at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, after scoring five goals in a tournament that saw Morocco crowned world champions for the first time in history.
The 19-year-old striker was a model of consistency throughout the competition, inspiring the U.S. team to an impressive semifinal finish. Cremaschi’s sharp finishing and composure in front of goal helped him edge out Colombia’s Neyser Villareal and France’s Lucas Michel, who also scored five goals but registered fewer assists.
While Cremaschi shone individually, the spotlight ultimately belonged to Morocco, who defeated defending champions Argentina 2-0 in the final at Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago. The North Africans made history by lifting their first-ever FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy, marking a landmark achievement for African football.
Yassir Zabiri was the star of the final, netting both goals in the first half to secure the victory. His superb displays throughout the tournament earned him the Silver Ball, while teammate Othmane Maamma claimed the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.
Argentina’s Milton Delgado took home the Bronze Ball, and goalkeeper Santino Barbi was named the Golden Glove winner for his outstanding performances between the posts. The United States also received the Fair Play Award for their exemplary discipline during the competition.
