Brand influencer and mother, Priscilla Ojo-Mkambala, has publicly rejected social media reports suggesting she described postpartum depression as nonexistent or tied to financial status.
The controversy began on January 30, 2026, when a screenshot circulated on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), falsely implying that Priscilla claimed she never experienced postpartum depression and that the condition is dependent on wealth.
Responding through her Instagram story, Priscilla called the claim untrue, urging those sharing it to provide evidence and clarifying that the statement was fabricated and wrongly attributed to her.
She expressed that the allegation was hurtful and disrespectful, particularly to women who have suffered from postpartum depression, emphasizing that such a condition can affect any mother regardless of her economic background.
“I never said this. What is wrong with Twitter people? Be ready to provide evidence,” she wrote. “What do you mean by saying I claimed ‘postpartum depression is an illusion caused by poverty’? That is insulting to mothers and extremely insensitive.”
Medical experts confirm that postpartum depression is a legitimate mental health condition, potentially affecting women after childbirth irrespective of their social class or financial situation, often requiring professional support.
Priscilla, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, welcomed her first child in 2025 and has consistently shared her experiences with strong family support, never suggesting that postpartum depression is fake or wealth-dependent.
