Chelsea Football Club and head coach Enzo Maresca have officially ended their partnership, with the decision taking immediate effect. The development comes after reports of escalating internal tensions over the past 24 to 48 hours.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the news on social media, noting that the separation had been finalized and that Chelsea would soon begin the process of appointing a new manager. “BREAKING: Chelsea and Enzo Maresca agree to part company with immediate effect. It’s over,” Romano wrote, adding that an official club statement would follow.
Speculation about a possible split had emerged earlier, with sources indicating a strained working relationship and the club taking steps to prepare for a managerial change ahead of Chelsea’s scheduled match against Manchester City.
Chelsea later confirmed the news in an official announcement, stating that Maresca left the club by mutual consent. The statement highlighted his achievements during his tenure, including leading the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, which remain key milestones in the club’s recent history.
“With important objectives still at stake across four competitions, including Champions League qualification, both Enzo and the Club agreed that a change would give the team the best chance to regain momentum,” the club said. “We thank Enzo for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
With the season entering a critical phase, Chelsea are expected to act quickly to identify and appoint a new head coach to guide the team through the remaining fixtures and challenges.
