The Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to challenge the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, which reportedly nullified the party’s National Convention held in Oyo State on November 15, 2025.
Gossip News Now reports that the court, in its ruling, also restrained members of the Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from presenting themselves as the party’s national officers.
While delivering judgment on Friday, the court held that the Caretaker Committee headed by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only legally recognized leadership of the PDP until a valid national convention is conducted.
Reacting to the ruling, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, issued a statement assuring party members that there was no cause for panic.
According to him, the judgment essentially declined the request for an order of mandamus on the grounds that granting such relief would amount to the court sitting in appeal over decisions made by courts of coordinate jurisdiction.
He disclosed that the party had already instructed its legal team to immediately file an appeal and take all necessary steps to defend its position.
“Despite this ruling, the Kabiru Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party that emerged from the Ibadan Convention remains legally intact and unshaken, pending the final pronouncement of the appellate courts,” Ememobong stated.
He further urged party members to remain calm, resolute, and committed, stressing that there was absolutely no reason for alarm.
“The REBIRTH movement is firmly on course,” he added.
