Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed he will not engage in any discussions regarding his future until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that his focus remains firmly on the club’s current season and ambitions.
The Portuguese midfielder is set to make his 300th appearance for United on Saturday when they face Brighton at Old Trafford, marking a major milestone since his £47 million transfer from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
Over nearly five years, Fernandes has proven to be one of United’s most reliable performers, missing only 17 matches — with just three due to injury or illness. Despite receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal last summer, he opted to stay at Old Trafford and continues to dismiss ongoing transfer rumours.
“As I’ve always said, I feel good here. I still have dreams I want to achieve,” Fernandes said. “People have talked about an agreement for me to leave next season, but if such talks happened, they didn’t involve me. I haven’t spoken to anyone — not even my agent. If he wants to discuss anything, it’ll be after the World Cup. Until then, I won’t entertain any talks.”
Reports indicate that Fernandes’ contract — which runs until 2027, with an option for an additional year — includes a £56.6 million release clause for potential moves abroad. However, the midfielder insists he remains committed to United’s project.
“My family feels great here,” he added. “My kids love their school and life in Manchester, even with the weather. We truly feel at home. When my wife asked if I’d achieved everything I wanted at United, I said no. That’s why I’m still here — I want to win trophies and bring success back to this club.”
