Paris Saint-Germain stunned Barcelona late on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League, edging a dramatic 2-1 win at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

The game looked destined for a draw after both teams traded first-half goals, but in the 90th minute, Achraf Hakimi burst down the right and set up Gonçalo Ramos, who calmly slotted home the winner. His strike silenced the home crowd and secured back-to-back victories for PSG. Hakimi, already influential defensively with a key block against Dani Olmo, was equally vital in the attacking phase.

Barcelona, stuck on three points, must now regroup before facing Olympiakos, while PSG prepare for a top-of-the-table clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Elsewhere in Europe, Newcastle United delivered a statement performance, crushing Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0. Anthony Gordon scored twice from the penalty spot, while Nick Woltemade continued his dream run, becoming the first Magpie to score in both his Premier League and Champions League debuts.

Manchester City endured a tense 2-2 draw in Monaco, with Erling Haaland netting twice before Eric Dier’s stoppage-time penalty denied them the win. Haaland’s brace took his tally to 52 Champions League goals, closing in on Ruud van Nistelrooy’s 56.

Arsenal maintained their strong start with a 2-0 victory over Olympiakos, thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

In Spain, Villarreal and Juventus played out a thrilling 2-2 draw, capped by Renato Veiga’s stoppage-time equaliser after Federico Gatti’s spectacular bicycle kick for Juve.

Other results saw Christian Kofane score on his full debut as Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1 with PSV, Rasmus Højlund bag a brace in Napoli’s 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund thrash Athletic Bilbao 4-1, and Qarabağ FK celebrate their first-ever group stage win with a 2-0 victory over FC Copenhagen.
