Veteran Nigerian entertainer and social activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charley Boy, has shared insights into the secret behind his 46-year-long marriage, revealing that longevity in marriage is the result of deliberate effort and constant management.

The outspoken musician and Nollywood actor made the revelation in a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, where he reflected on love, commitment, and the realities of married life.

According to Charley Boy, many people often assume he and his wife are effortlessly in love, without realizing the level of work required to sustain a union for nearly five decades. He stressed that marriage is not a fairytale but a continuous process that demands patience, sacrifice, and resilience.

He explained that while friendship in marriage is important, no union is perfect or “heaven-made” from the start. Instead, he noted that successful marriages are built on earth through intentional effort, mutual understanding, and a willingness to grow together despite challenges.

Charley Boy further admitted that there are moments when he feels exhausted or emotionally drained in the marriage, but he chooses to keep going because both partners have made a firm decision to stay committed for life.

He emphasized that long-lasting marriages are not free of problems, adding that the ability to manage difficult moments is what separates enduring unions from failed ones.
