Chelsea Appoints Liam Rosenior as New Manager Following Maresca’s Departure

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed Liam Rosenior, former Strasbourg manager, as its new head coach, succeeding Enzo Maresca.

Rosenior revealed on Tuesday that he had “verbally agreed” to take over the Premier League champions, describing the opportunity as one he “cannot turn down.”

“It looks like I am going to be the next manager of Chelsea,” Rosenior said at a press conference with his current club, Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

He described the appointment as “an unbelievable opportunity at an incredible club, the world champions,” adding that leaving Strasbourg, where he spent 18 months, had been difficult but necessary.

“These 18 months at Strasbourg have been my best time,” he said. “Being Chelsea coach is an opportunity I cannot refuse. I can go home, see my kids, and sign for a magnificent club.”

Chelsea announced that Rosenior has signed a contract running until 2032.

Upon his appointment, Rosenior expressed his excitement and commitment to upholding the club’s legacy.

“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club,” he said. “This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies. My responsibility is to protect that identity and build a team that reflects these values in every game as we aim to continue winning.”

Rosenior added that teamwork, unity, and collaboration would form the foundation of his approach.

“I am eager to work with this talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch, and to create an environment where everyone is united and driven by the same goal,” he said. “There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete at the highest level and make everyone associated with Chelsea proud.”

He concluded by highlighting the importance of fans, saying:

“I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every game. They are the soul of this historic and enormous football club.”
