Chioma Adeleke, wife of Nigerian music sensation Davido, has addressed the criticisms surrounding her outfit at the 68th Grammy Awards, making it clear that she fully supports her fashion choice.
The Grammys took place on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Davido, nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, attended the event with Chioma, his elder sister Sharon Adeleke, and other members of his entourage.
Making her debut at the prestigious global ceremony, Chioma wore a sheer ensemble that quickly drew mixed reactions across social media platforms.
Despite the online backlash, Chioma shared photos of herself and her husband from the awards night on Instagram late Monday. The post reignited conversation among her followers, some of whom questioned her outfit choice.
One follower commented, advising against similar future outfits:
“Nne, no wear this cloth again inugo. However, your husband loves you o.”
Chioma responded confidently to the remark, stating:
“I will wear it again.”
The discussion has also drawn attention from public figures. Sheriff Oborevwori, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Success, criticised Chioma’s attire in a Facebook post. He described her look as inappropriate for the international stage, arguing that it did not properly reflect Nigerian cultural values and could send the wrong message to young Nigerians.
The wide-ranging reactions have sparked debate on social media about celebrity fashion choices, cultural representation, and the expectations placed on public figures attending global events.
