The Nigerian government has signed a major contract with U.S.-based public affairs and lobbying company, DCI Group, to facilitate communication about its initiatives to protect Christians across Nigeria.
According to Gossip News Now, the engagement aims to address concerns from U.S. lawmakers and the public regarding reports of religious violence in the country.
Documents filed with the U.S. Department of Justice indicate that the Nigerian government, represented by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu through Aster Legal, has hired DCI Group for $9 million. The contract will last six months, starting December 17, 2025, with an option for automatic renewal for an additional six months.
The agreement tasks DCI Group with strategic communication to U.S. officials regarding Nigeria’s efforts to safeguard its Christian population. The firm is also expected to maintain U.S. support for Nigeria’s fight against jihadist groups and other destabilizing elements in West Africa.
A pre-payment of $4.5 million was made on December 12, 2025, with the contract structured to provide a monthly retainer of $750,000 for professional fees and expenses. Payments are arranged in two installments of $4.5 million each—one at the start of the contract and the second after six months.
The Nigerian government’s move comes amid rising international attention, particularly from the U.S., over reported attacks on Christians. The country was previously designated a “country of particular concern” by former U.S. President Donald Trump due to alleged Christian genocide, claims that have been consistently rejected by Nigerian authorities.
Officials in Abuja have reaffirmed their commitment to engaging U.S. counterparts to refute the genocide allegations. Concerns raised by American politicians about the security of Christians in Nigeria had prompted calls for stronger measures, with President Trump previously hinting at possible military intervention to address terrorism in the region.
Through this lobbying engagement, Nigeria seeks to maintain diplomatic channels with the U.S., addressing religious tensions while showcasing its security initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable communities.
