After several weeks of soaring costs, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, has dropped across Nigeria. Retailers confirmed that prices, which recently peaked at about ₦2,000 per kilogram, have now fallen to between ₦1,300 and ₦1,500 in most areas.

According to Gossip News Now, the Chairman of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers Association of Nigeria, Ayobami Olarinoye, told Punch that the recent improvement in supply has eased pressure on both retailers and consumers.

Olarinoye explained, “The product is gradually circulating. Supply has increased, and the price is dropping, though it hasn’t returned to previous levels. It now ranges between ₦1,300 and ₦1,600 depending on location.”

While acknowledging the progress, he cautioned that the LPG market remains unstable, though he expressed optimism that continued supply would bring more stability soon.

“The market isn’t fully stable yet, but there’s noticeable improvement. Hopefully, within a week, if supply continues, prices will stabilize,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, intervened in the situation on Monday, October 13, 2025, warning against hoarding and profiteering. He assured that the Federal Government would take firm action against marketers exploiting consumers.
