A Lagos court has discharged and acquitted popular auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, widely known as IVD, of any involvement in the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.

Gossip News Now reports that the ruling was delivered on Monday, December 15, 2025, bringing to a close a legal battle that spanned nearly three years. During that period, Bimbo’s family had accused IVD of responsibility for her death, leading to his arrest and prosecution by the Lagos State Government.

Reacting to the judgment, IVD’s partner, Blessing CEO, took to social media to celebrate the outcome and express relief over the court’s decision. She described the ruling as the end of years of emotional pain and false narratives, while affirming her faith in the Nigerian justice system.

“Discharged and acquitted, 15th December 2025. It ended in praise. Four years of tears and false narratives. Nigeria’s justice system still works. I’m proud of my country. IVD, you can now have your life back. Congratulations,” she wrote.

Blessing CEO also used the moment to caution individuals against remaining in toxic or harmful relationships, advising them to walk away before things escalate.

Bimbo Ogbonna passed away in October 2022 after sustaining injuries from a fire incident at the couple’s Lagos residence. The case attracted widespread public attention, with reports linking the tragedy to alleged domestic issues within the marriage.

In March 2023, IVD was arraigned in court and charged with involuntary manslaughter before being granted bail as proceedings continued. The case saw several twists, including his rearrest on August 1, 2025, by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, reportedly while he was en route to Qatar ahead of his planned wedding to Blessing CEO.
