Dangote Refinery Refutes Claims of Petrol Delivery by Dispatch Riders

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has debunked a trending video claiming it has introduced a motorcycle-based fuel delivery service.

According to the company, the footage is fabricated and has no connection whatsoever to its activities.

The viral clip, which circulated widely on Sunday, showed a man avoiding long fuel queues by supposedly ordering petrol through WhatsApp.

Gossip News Now noted that a dispatch rider then appeared on a motorcycle equipped with a small fuel tank and a dispensing nozzle.

The rider was seen refueling the man’s car at his home, while the video displayed branding for a service called “FuelUp,” allegedly “powered by Dangote Petroleum.”

The footage sparked varied reactions nationwide.

Some social media users applauded what they believed was an innovative response to fuel shortages, while others voiced concerns over the dangers of transporting petrol on motorcycles. Many Nigerians also doubted the authenticity of the clip, pointing out that the graphics and effects looked digitally produced.

“Fake! We Have No Connection to It” – Dangote Officials Clarify

Reacting to the circulating video, the Group Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said the company was surprised to see its brand linked to such material.

He emphasized that Dangote Refinery had absolutely no involvement with the creators of the video.

“It is fake! We have nothing to do with this,” Chiejina told The PUNCH on Sunday.

Another top official added that Dangote only sells petroleum products in bulk and has not partnered with any individual or organization to distribute petrol via motorcycle dispatch riders.

He further stated that the refinery does not know the origin of the clip and immediately flagged it as a false representation of its operations.

While dismissing the circulating video, the refinery outlined its actual fuel distribution process, which depends on large-scale, professionally managed logistics designed to ensure safety and efficiency.

Gossip News Now recalls that earlier in the year, the refinery purchased several hundred CNG-powered trucks, which were rolled out in September as part of its direct supply initiative.

According to company officials, these vehicles are central to Dangote’s long-term transportation blueprint and reflect its dedication to cleaner, safer and more dependable fuel delivery nationwide.

The refinery emphasized that it does not sell fuel directly to private consumers and has never approved any form of motorcycle-based doorstep supply.

Located within the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, the Dangote Refinery ranks among the world’s biggest integrated refining complexes. In recent months, the company has intensified efforts to boost operational strength and modernize critical systems.

This upgrade drive includes expanding its use of cleaner energy, automating major processing units, tightening safety measures and enhancing distribution infrastructure to guarantee a smooth supply of refined products.

Officials further revealed that the refinery is working toward increasing its output capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day—a move aimed at meeting Nigeria’s growing fuel needs and establishing the refinery as a dominant force in Africa’s energy sector.

They noted that this capacity expansion is a strategic plan intended to strengthen domestic supply, promote regional fuel trade and improve the company’s long-term edge in the global oil and gas industry.
